Nichelini Family Winery
The Oldest Family-Owned Winery in Napa Valley
A porchlight on the 1895 Nichelini home invited everyone to stop in, enjoy some wine, and tell stories into the night. Now, once again, you can enjoy that same oak-aged port-style red dessert wine shared by the family.
Porchlight is a tribute to port-style wines. It is sweet and high in alcohol, but finding the right balance is where the magic is at. I take a beautifully fermenting wine and capture it in time with grape spirits. Then I age it in oak barrels for an extra-long time to develop robust aged flavors for our traditional Nichelini port-style wine.
The wine, when poured into a glass has translucent amber edges that glow around a deep red colored center. When served at cellar temperature, the aromas of dark chocolate, cinnamon, raisons and dried plums emerge. The flavors are deep blackberry, seasoned oak and spice. It is rich and smooth, with a wonderfully sweet finish: a sipping wine to savor.
