This wine is a blend of two of Bordeaux’s white varietals: Muscadelle 71%, and Sauvignon Blanc 29%. Estate-grown, the grapes were hand-harvested, fermented and then cellared with no oak contact.
I love making blends because it allows me to focus solely on the taste and not the labeling rules. Muscadelle is a very interesting variety, in that it is has a steeliness that can be hard to soften. But instead of taming it, I found that Sauvignon Blanc can complement it, adding dimension to its aromas and flavors. Then I leave it just a tiny bit sweet to balance its brightness with a pleasant surprise.
A to medium-bodied, semi-sweet wine with refreshing melon with passion fruit notes, flavors of sweet peach, lemon and apricot, with a crisp, light finish.
Both the Muscadelle and the Sauvignon Blanc were fermented in stainless steel. After blending, the wine was then cellared in stainless for four months and then bottled.
